PEARES was organized in 2008 by three ladies with a love for animals. Avis Clegg is Executive Director and lives in Manvel, TX. She has a dream of establishing an equine sanctuary on her ranch in Cuero, TX. She is working to make her dream a reality by building fences and shelters for the rescued animals. The goal is to retire at the ranch and operate the Sanctuary full time.
PEARES now has over two dozen horses and donkeys in their care. Each animal has a story behind their rescue. There are two that are very special.
Shey is one of the horses featured on the About Us tab. Shey came from Animal Control extremely malnourished. PEARES helped her to be the gorgeous horse she was born to be. After she was given a second chance at life, they found she had a tumor that was obstructing her breathing. She had to have a tracheotomy to help her to breathe. She is doing remarkably well.
Precious is another rescue from Animal Control. She had been starved by her former owner and beaten with a two by four. Her nose was broken and healed back very crooked. She is pictured on the Happy Endings tab. She will live her life at the Sanctuary where no one will ever hurt her again.
Avis has some wonderful dedicated volunteers and fosters that help her with her mission.
